Dear Herschel colleagues,

Please find below the First Announcement of the mini-workshop:

"Herschel Ten Years After Launch: Science and Celebration", 13-14 May 2019, ESAC, Villafranca del Castillo, Madrid, Spain
This event will take place in connection with the 10th anniversary of the launch of Herschel - it is meant to be both a celebration of Herschel and its science, as well as placing Herschel's science results in the spotlight of what we know today. The format will be a mini-workshop with invited and contributed presentations, with a social break around the time of the launch ten years earlier.

The mini-workshop website URL is:

where you can find all the information needed to attend the workshop in person.

There is no registration fee.

The meeting will start with an overview of the science objectives of Herschel and how and why they have changed over time from the first ideas in the late 1970s to the launch. Then invited and contributed talks will cover actual Herschel science achievements in light of where we are now, 10 years after the launch, and more than 6 years after the last observations. The idea is to place Herschel science results in the spotlight of current knowledge, both in the sense of being appreciated and challenged, and as having acted as starting points for further work, tracing the Herschel science heritage to what is being done today, and what is planned for the future.

Come and join us for the celebration at ESAC!
